A lot of people including myself have John Wayne on their lists.

I really don't think it was his acting as much as him mannerisms. I personally don't think he was a very good "actor" as much as I think he had a certain charisma he brought to the screen and it was the same every time. But he really didn't have any range outside the western genre. Beyond that, he was like a fish out of water.
