These pics show my favorite spot.I spent many days here.I never did
find any coins other than about 8 wheaties. But this area was very
isolated. It was so peaceful.Had a nice creek behind it and you could hear
the running water.Just thought i would share.HH wolfbite

Nice. I have a friend who has a similar place in the middle of nowhere. Built in early 1900s and possibly late 1800s. Farm house. Spend 4+ hours and not a darn coin. I think people just didn't carry money on farms much. When they left the house, it was ususally to do chores, not shop. I was kinda disappointed.

Looks like a fun site! Might be a cache around there somewhere? Could there be an old outhouse, or what's left of one close by? HH, Mike

Hmmmmm. Where have I seen a place like that before? What a cool looking spot.
Even old bottles would be fun to find. Good luck.

I'd like to have a little place like that in a hollar up in the N.C. mountains. We used to visit a friend's grandmother up near Franklin, N.C. when I was in my early teens. We'd be out rambling around the creek and up the little hollows near here house, and we'd smell the food and come running. I can still smell (and taste) the country ham, scratch "catshead size" biscuits, stewed corn and sliced tomatoes. Brings back some seriously fond memories. I gotta drive up to Shatley Springs, my wife can't cook that kinda food and that's what I grew up on And I need a round of it right now!

Or come up closer to your neck of the woods and eat at Hillbilly Hide-A-Way, have you ever eaten there? I love that kinda food.

Ramapirate,
I LOVE the country cooking at Shatley Springs too. I have a lot in Crumpler on the New River right down the road from Shatley Springs. Man, that place packs them in too. I've heard it's been there since at least the early 1900's. Would make a great MD place. A lot of old buildings and cabins in there.
Now I'm hungry too. :)

Sure is a neat old looking place. I can understand why you decided to check it out.
