Nice finds. Looks like your starting the year off right. Is there anything on the front of that button?

Wolverine.

What a nice Barber!! In the south you don't see alot for some reason? I hope to find a few up here. Someday I'll get a large cent as well!!! I'd like to find some open fields to hunt for relics near here.

Wow, awesome quarter. What kind of area are you hunting? Looks like tonigh might have been the last hurrah for a little while. HH Dan

Love the barber! congrats.

Awesome. Love those Barber coins. They are my favorite designs.

Nice 1800's Barber, man! Where there's one, bound to be more!

Nice job!

Been thinking about getting a different coil myself for the MXT. Thought about either the 6x10 DD or the D2. Care to add any insight into the 950 stock coil versus the D2? Have any other coils? What does the ground mineralization read in your area? Sorry for all the questions, newbie.

Thanks!

Nice!!!! what do you like about the D2?

thanks Randy

awesome finds!! keep it up :D

For those of you that use the E series Whites the D2 would be a must in my book. I have the 4x6DD, 6x10DD, stock coil, Super 12 and the D2. I bought the D2 in December and never had a chance to take it to a hammered spot because all the parks and grassy areas were frozen solid, well yesterday in a spot that as been hammered for years I decided to try my luck on deep targets and the first one I found was the merc at about 7 inches and about a half hour later I got another good signal bouncing between 82 & 86 at 10 inches, digging in this ground right now is a little hard on the first couple inches but after that it's soft but it was well worth it. The only other quarter I've dug that was as deep as the barber was a standing liberty quarter with the stock coil and I could barely hear it and couldn't get a lock on it. The D2 was accurate for depth and I.D. both. It's a super coil in my book for sure. The super 12 might go as deep or maybe a tad deeper but it won't I.D. targets as good plus the depth readings are way off. Also the pinpointing is about as close to perfect I've ever seen a DD coil do, the separation is fantastic too for a coil of this size, the button came from the same hole but was a little shallower than the quarter as far as I could tell.

Congrats Giant. Very nice looking barber, and old merc. Super cool.

Good luck,
HH.

very nice finds I hope to be out there soon too.

Anne I was hunting a city park here in Kalamzoo, I started hunting in the attached woods to it at first but I ended up on the grass part of the park where I found both the merc and barber. It was not very diggable for the first couple inches, I won't be able to dig in the grass this weekend though cause its rock hard again with this cold we've been getting, I will have to head back in the woods.

It covers area a lot better just being a DD coil plus the areas that I've dug for a long time seem to all of a sudden have metal again. The pinpointing is excellent, seperation is great, I'd say it's an excellent coil.
