"FENTON ST RESERVE PICNIC JUNE 22 1911" COOL FINDS AND PICS
Hi all,We had rain last night, now that was different and made digging today a little easier
.This evening i went to a place called the Fenton Street reserve [park].This park once had a football oval and several structures but little remains.Just the shade trees in the back ground and the rest is just an open area. These sort of parks were used as local picnic grounds on specials day and holidays.Australians don,t mind these events and care little for what ever it is.Just a good reason to get out and drink huge amounts of beer.
.
On June 22 1911 there was such an event took place here. "the new king as crowned and what a flag" waving a fair, plenty of good food and plenty of beer. All the children were given a special medal for this occasion and i found one today at the site.I also found this religous token ,brass padlock, horse saddle studs and some shards.
