Finally got some rain my way and got out for a couple hours shortly after. A few points



a small hafted scraper and I believe a backed scraper made with neat material

Nice pieces you have found. Looks like a Woodland site to me?

This field has several time periods scattered throughout it I imagine. From the artifacts I've found I'd probably have to say mid archaic - woodland. This field has several "hot spots" and each spot seems to be a different period. This is what I have gathered so far from what I found, but I could be wrong. Haven't found that paleo spot yet though

With the amount of artifacts and the water nearby There still has yet to be any pottery found by me or anyone that I'm aware of. If I'm correct pottery came a bit later along the timeline?

Someone else asked me that...just did a google search and it does look like one, I suppose it could be. I always thought gun flints were more squared, but doesn't seem to be the case.

One edge of the piece looks like it has metal arced in it like a gun flint. Nice finds.

Yea I've walked the creek a few times, but no luck so far. Should be something around though with the amount of clay we have around here.

Pottery is a hard thing to see when you are looking for flint. Many people dont see the pottery but yes most pottery came more abundant in the Late Woodland to Mississippian periods.
