Got lucky in the creek with this Kirk today. Found the little Jasper drill on the next gravel bar up creek. Finally found something pecked and polished, the celt/axe bit was laying in the middle of one of our trails, almost ran it over. The Jacks Reef was a gift from a friend, found just across the river from us.

I guess I need to walk my creeks too! Thanks for posting these incredible finds! I view it as encouragement! I've never looked for Indian relics, my hunting buddy Indian Steve sees them in the dark! I'm kinda duh when it comes to this! However now, Steve has me looking!

That Kirk is smokin'! Has the broken part of the celt/axe bit been ground down some? Looks sorta like it and the reason I ask is that I found the poll end of a celt that had been ground down to make a cone.

Love the Kirk! And everything else too! That's an awesome day at the creek! What is the item in the bottom pic fourth to the right? The color is amazing!

Thanks. Im not sure whats going on with the broken end of the celt/axe, at first I thought the dimple was just a result of the break, but after getting a better look at the pics up close it kinda looks pecked and cleaned up a little.

Thanks for the kind words. Its a little Jasper cobble that looks like it has a few flakes or small blades removed from it, or maybe just a busted rock but I couldn't leave it behind.

Those are all real nice finds. I think you are right, there does appear to be some modification done on the broken end of your celt, a real interesting piece. That Kirk is about as nice as anyone could hope to find in the region. HH

Looks to be a lot of slate and schist in your creek. Is the 1st point made from slate?

Where is this creek again? ;)

Awesome stuff....amazing!

Great finds and don't it get you when you just know there is something else to an artifact but we will never know why. Thanks for posting.:icon_thumleft:

So what is the long stone piece its gray?

I thought it was a small pestle, after cleaning it up a bit I see no evidence that it was man made, no pole damage from use. It made a nice addition to my rock garden.
