Field finds

[Merf]

They picked the beans so I headed back to a field that I had pounded this spring. Slim pickins but I found this Buffalo nickel, a couple of wheats, and my first 8 guage shotgun shell brass. Sure wish they would plow that field.
Best luck, Merf

Nice finds Merf! I would like to see the back of that Buffalo nickel, looks like it was lost not long after it was minted. HH

nice finds merf ! maybe they will get that field plowed up before too long congrats

[piggman1]

Sweet looking Buff! Nice pile of finds, never found an 8 ga. before. Now that's a shotgun! I used to own a double barrel 10, I can only imagine what it was like to pull the trigger of an 8.

I gotta agree, nice nickel there. Anytime you find one with a date you got something for sure.

[DDEXPII]

nice

Thanks Badger---It is good to hunt fields again.

Thanks Coinman---When I get my tumbler I will clean it up and post.

Thanks Diggerbug---I don't know what that is. I think maybe a piece to a childs tea set.

Thanks Sherm---That site you posted is top notch.

Thanks Doozis---I bet that gun gave a few sore shoulders.

Thanks Weasel

Thanks PM----I can only imagine the kick that gun must have had. It would take a big man to shoot it for sure.

Thanks Rebel.

Plehbah--LOL

Thanks Hoss.

Thanks Deepdigger.

[Merf]

Thanks Nick-- Best luck.

Merf,
That is a decent looking Buffalo - nice strong date.

Eight Gauge? Is that old?

What, no woods hunting? Afraid of some mosquitoes? I am.

Hard diggins' Merf!
The buff 18 is in pretty good condition bud.....

Keep safe....

Bob---That 8 guage must be old, I have never seen an 8 guage shotgun.
Those mosquitoes almost got the best of me last time I hit the woods. Hope that first frost comes soon.

A small strike Kirk.

Running low on places to hunt here in N. Il.

That Buff looks great! It should clean up nice. . . just be careful with it when you do clean it.

I'd hate to be a twelve-year-old hunting with that 8-gauge for the first time. . . he'd be sore the next day for sure

[Postalrevnant]

Nice finds Merf. Have not gotten to hunt fields too often. Have had mixed results. But the one thing we match on is every field I have ever hunted was full of shotgun shells...etc. And a great helping of trash.
