I have read about people metal detecting through a field, and finding great stuff. How do you know if a field might actually have something in it, of if its just a regular field? For example, here in North Dakota?

How do you know if a field might actually have something in it, of if its just a regular field? For example, here in North Dakota?


In a nutshell, because rambling confuses people.

(1)Put yourself in an area known for old history.
(2)If you can research the area first this is good.
(3)Locate a field. (Get Permission) A bullet int butt may hurt. I like to detect the high ground parts of the fields. You'll know right away if your on to something. Endless iron parts
(4) look for broken pottery, fruit trees, and a water source. WATER IS LIFE


That's all you do. Simple huh?
