Final relics for '09 -- 12/07
Hi all:
With the snowy weather forecasts and Christmas looming, I knew this past weekend would be my last chance to hunt for quite a while. On Sat. I hit my new wheat field. It was a bit bleaker than last hunt, but at least the clover has finally died. The wheat stubble was still troublesome and proper gridding will have to wait until spring. I did find my first (huzzah!) thimble, even though it had lost the fight with the plow. I reshaped it later but it still isn't pretty. I also found another nice suspender buckle.....or as my 3YO daughter called it, "A hooker for farmer pants."
On Sunday I didn't have a lot of time but I wanted to hit my "relic field" at a local farm house once more. I had a good signal that pinpointed big and figured it was yet another mason lid. But since I was in the relic field I knew I had to dig and was happy to pull out a state farm insurance plate. This is the second one I've found so I know they can't be rare.
I also found another dome button (several at this site) and a cool piece of coal. And my final .02 of clad for the year.
It's been a fun year of MDing!
