I'm having an issue with uploading photos right now but will post more asap

Looks big to. What does the base look like across the bottom? Need more than 1 pic

pretty stone too

Thank you, also The bottom looks like it was fractured from a break so I'm assuming this was either an arrowhead or spear tip.

That is nice. Too big for an arrowhead. Wonder what the base looked like.

I know I was going crazy trying to find the other half of it. I'm sure I'll be back to the area to look some more.

Well thank you I figured it was broken. It amazes me how they can break at such a straight snap sometimes. On the flaking it is really hard to see it on the white but looks to me as Early Woodland I see scattered and also a few longer strikes on it if that helps you narrow down what it is.

Appreciate the info Rock! I was thinking maybe bringing it to garvies point museum or natural history museum to have a definitive date put on it.

They can possibly do that if you can find someone who knows stone pieces. I did that once and the guy who looked at my pieces said well they have been worked but for what I have no idea. Wasnt the same museum you are talking about though. Good Luck

Heartbreaker! What pretty stone, I'd be very pleased with it

It is a very attractive lithic. Does not resemble any of the Hudson Valley flints. Might be chalcedony by the appearance, but just a guess. It will be tough to put any age, even relative, on it, without the base being there. Unless that material is recognized as a lithic only used by a particular culture, I don't know how you would determine a type. It could be a triangle, and you have 90% of it, or it could be any number of types with notches, etc. Nice find, though!

Rock That's what I'm afraid of. A "professional" giving me the wrong info on the point. I really need to find that other half.

Charl this is why I'm going crazy trying to find Anything that resembles this point. I Have found absolutely nothing on Long Island that looks like this. I wish I could take you guys to the area to hunt!!
Thanks Naturegirl!
