Been a long time since I've posted, sorry, I've just been finding a piece of silver here a piece of silver there....... This weekend broke a Large Cent drought by finding a 1798 Draped Bust !! I've found several KGII's but no LC since October 8, 2014. Funny thing is the last LC I found was same type.

At the same site I found a horse shoe, ox shoe, Bridlebit, bridal disc, two flat buttons, and a round ball.

I wonder if that large cent can be cleaned better? All I did was soak in distilled water and olive oil and that's the best I can get it, It may just be very corroded copper. Please give me your thoughts.

I've also included an interesting coin I found 3 weeks ago, interesting because it was found on a farm in NY. It is a Swedish half Skilling 1802 or 1803.

I'm also throwing in one picture of some silver I've been finding. Enjoy the photos and happy hunting.

Congrats on some nice finds. I wouldn't do anything else to your LC looks like the detail is in the patina. You could lose it all

At first look , it looks more like a flowing hair-1793---- could you post more/ better pictures of obverse ------tom

I post a better photo later when I get home. Flowing hair type, that would be exciting !

Congrats on the nice finds.. glad to see you back in action, and giving the Deus a work out.

Hey Andy.
Nice to see your post.
Congrats on the Large Cent.
Going to Ocean City this weekend
Maybe we'll get together soon.

Congrats on digging a sweet LC. :occasion14: That one remains on my bucket list. Maybe someday I can break into the 1700's club? :dontknow:

nice finds! droughts come and go glad to see yours has ended.

That's a great LC to make a comeback with DD. Any 1700's Large Cent is a superb find. Congrats and keep them coming!

The dry spells can be tough, and finding an old coin can really get you back in the game. Congrats on some nice finds!

I think your right, but would be worth a shot

I downloaded the larger photos, and don't think that's an 1798...

cant see new pics

That's a great old LC. I wouldn't do anything to it. You could soak it in the oil for a few months and you might get a bit more detail but it looks pretty good the way it is.

I usually give mine a thin coat of Vaseline after cleaning just to put a seal on it before putting it away or on display.

Hi; DO NOT USE OIL on it. The oil will not clean the coin. Use the water, let it soak for a few days then use a wooden toothpick and GENTLY "push" the dirt off. This may seem tedious but the end results will amaze you ok. If that is a Flowing Hair Large Cent then it is BANNER all day long ok. Good Luck. PEACE:RONB

It's an old one for sure...Congratulations!

Excellent finds! Crusty is cool! Thanks for posting!

Here are some more photos, different angles. Definitely looks like a Draped Bust 1798. Not flowing hair but still a cool find.
