Detected an old plantation site and recovered this great complete key. I’ve found parts of keys before but this is my first complete one.

That's funny.

this is the actual key to the front door to my house.
It's an older home.
yours looks like it might unlock my house

Congrats on your first complete key! I love finding those!

There's a restaurant in Philadelphia's University City area called the White Dog Cafe, and I was blown away by their light fixtures - there were MANY of fixtures like the one pictured below, each with dozens of skeleton keys on them! Hundreds of keys in total around the restaurant.

Wouldn't it be amazing as detectorists to find enough keys to make something like this?!? (I have about 6 complete keys - need a lot more.)

"Skeleton" means pared back to the basic shape that will work with many locks. Not very secure these days. But must have worked fine in the past.

As to security.
That's okay.
I'm in one of those towns everyone knows everyone.
And they know who's not supposed to be there.

The Mayor comes sits on my porch for a visit
Our Police chief comes over says hey.
You have to wave every time a car passes.

It's like living in Mayberry RFD
