Finally found my very 1st gold coin!.

Well I finely done it after 28 years plus and several metal detector`s later, I have found my very 1st real gold coin! I was near the Little River Academy Texas and on a very hot day 6/27/2019 at least 100 degrees F. and about 900 percent humidity and after about 2 hours of hard hunting I finely got the sound and repeating number 52 on my detectors display using channel 1 with all metal on my AT-Pro, and in less than 3. inches I dug my self up a Dos Pesos Mexican coin in a damaged but heavy 14k bezel. what was even better my hunting pal was working his E-800 and was there to see the recovery as well he had the honers of revealing the coin to me as it was locked in a clump of dirt with the pendent edge showing its not a big coin but it was getting bigger and heaver by the moment !!! so I finely am able to scratch number 1 on my list of Items I really want to find very happy with this hobby and I am holding steady at 12 gold rings so far for 2019. sorry picture post later

It took me right at 28 years to find my first, and so far only, gold coin. Much like yours, it’s in a bezel, but the chain was not with it. Here’s to both of us finding a few more, and not take so long doing it!

I stated this to Tinpan when he got his, but he misread my intention. I'll try again, I would take it out the bezel carefully, keep the coin & scrap the bezel/chain for cash. But that's just a coin collectors view who thinks coins should be cared for & not worn, the fact that they lost it proves my point.

Technically a gold coin is a gold coin but personally I look at gold coin pendants as jewelry. I don't feel that a gold coin pendant found in a modern park, beach or otherwise should be classified the same as a gold coin lost in the period that it circulated and recovered from a historic site. I'm not trying to discredit your find which is awesome either way. Congrats!

Good job I vote banner a gold coin I dont care where I find it even in my mailbox is a banner yes it would be more fun to find it in a ghost town I dont live in an area with a lot of history my town was founded in 1826 the first coin dropped was in 1900 and picked back up so if I found one in a park it might be more banner worthy like if I found a hammered here in a curb strip it would be more worthy of a banner than if I found it at a 1700s site just my 1 cent.
