I’m still out here on the farm picking coins out of the yard. I found thirteen today, mostly zincolns but also a dime and finally, an ‘81 Nickel.

Might seem pretty common to you, but it’s the first nickel I have found amongst the eighty-some-odd coins I’ve found here.

I’ve read that because of the math of making change, nickels are less common than other coins since you only ever get one back.

This one rang up as a 47-48-49 on the nokta simplex, so I guess I’ll have to dig more signals in that range.

And the usual irresistible sounding junk.

Well done !

A good thing to keep in mind when you go to sites that have been heavily hunted by other's in the past and you don't get any higher conductor hit's like you would get from Pennies, Dimes & Quarters - that's when it's really time to start paying close attention to your mid-range Nickel signals. Nickel's range signals were and still are often overlooked.

Example -
A few years ago I hunted an early 1900's Baseball field - I knew the place had been hunted by others for decades - not one single hi conductor hit - went around the same area again really listening for good solid mid-range targets -
ended up finding one V-Nickel and two Buffalo Nickels.
