First time using my 5 inch Excelerator coil and just basically used it in shaded areas and around large roots. Found a Merc in crappy shape, a "V" Nickel, a damaged ring, a 1932 Canadian cent, and quite a few Wheats, but nothing to brag about. Deepest was maybe four inches deep. I also found a clad quarter, two clad dimes, and five memorial cents too. First time using such a small coil and have a few promising sites to visit next time I visit my Dad!!

Nice hunt Jack. Great job on the "V". The only "V" I've found so far said "Viagra" on it. ;D
Enjoy the time with your Dad.

Great finds, love the old Canadian cent, the ONE CENT looks like our wheat pennies.

Good hunting, which machine do you prefer using, the explorer or the
XS2?

I prefer the Explorer 2 and keep the Explorer as a backup, but what I'm planning on doing is have the bigger coil on the 2 and the small coil on the Explorer!

Every time I hunt with my Dad is great and I hope to do it in a couple weeks again. The heat keeps him in more, but he can still get the silver when he gets out!! Not to the Viagra yet, and with a 4 year old keeping me busy it might be better just to find the nickels!!

When I first see those "One Cent" on the Canadian pennies I always think I've got an Indian, but still love those older Canadian cents!!

Holy crap....If that is from a 5" coil....I cant wait to see the deep stuff with the stock!

i'd be bragging about those finds ! wow congrats ;) on the very nice coins

great finds !!! all of em....... ;D ;D ;D ;D

Nice finds Jack. What do you really feel about that smaller coil? I just received a 4x6 DD coil and gave it a try the other night. My conclusion was that it did have it's place in certain situations, but over all I prefer my larger coil. You are right, It take getting use to using a coil that small. I found the depth to be a little on the shallow side for what I like, but any signal I got was within my pinpointers range. I didn't see much difference as far as getting closer to steel poles like on play ground equipment, but I did find some coins that would have blended with the junque on my larger coil. Just asking your review. I'm keeping mine for those special circumstances that would require a smaller coil.

For me the smaller coil will be used circumstances. I have five or six spots that I want to use it, but unfortunately they are all about 150 miles away. When I do go, I'll try the coil there. I like the coil, but prefer a larger coil for most areas. I haven't seen a difference BUT, not enough time to be sure. Overall I will use it when the place is just full of junk and my 12 inch coil is driving me crazy or I feel I'm missing something!

That's my opinion also. I think it would be great for working shallow water (knee deep) areas, also. I haven't tried it yet, but I will.
