Detector(s) used
White's - DFX,Prizm V, Spectra V3
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
Back in the 1960's I used to MD with an old White's CoinMaster, and found some neat coins. Well things happened, college, War, marriage, kids, etc., and the days spent out MDing became a thing of the past. Well, in May of 2006, I went out and purchased a new detector. I really like this Prizm V. It's light, and it finds the coins. Earlier this month, after about 2 1/3 years, I finally broke the 5000 coin mark, but NO silver coins. I had found several pieces of silver jewelry, and even a few gold rings, but no silver coins. Was talking to Terry (Icandigit) last week, and told him that the days out hunting coins was very quickly coming to an end for another year, and I still hadn't found that one shiny coin. He suggested a park that he has had luck at this year (4 silver dimes), but advised that this is an old park, and it gets hit regularly, but he thought that we might have a chance at a good one there. Enough said, we went. Pictured below are the few coins that I was able to find, along with a glass drawer pull. And, I can spend the winter happy. I got my silver coin. HH all. Larry

Awesome. Love those silver quarters, and that's a pretty decent one! Congrats

Great silver find Larry. Congrats to you.

Is there a D on the back of that coin. 1940 D Washington Quarter is a semi Key date. Only about 2.8 million made. If not, still a good find and congrats on your first silver ;D

2008 Red book 1940 D
EF--$24.00
AU--$65.00

Unfortunately, there is no D. It's a Philadelphia made pin. Surprisingly enough, that it a little strange for this area (Nebraska). Most of our coins are made in Denver, and we also get quite a few from San Francisco.

Larry didn't tell you that we each dug about 112 lbs of trash before he nailed that little bugger, I'm now walking face down instead of face forward

Amen Terry, amen.....

By the way. I just bought a Prizm V for my brother about 2 months ago. He seems to like it and when I tested it it seemed very easy to use. How do you like yours?

Whewww! :P Now that that silver came out they should start flowing for you.

You have all winter to hit the library and research some good spots for silver.

Ken

I absolutely love it. It is one of the easiest machines I have used. It is very easy to find coins, to good depths. I've taken clad dimes out at 9", and though we don't have beaches here, (at least, not many), I have found many rings (both silver and gold), and some interesting other items. It even picks the coins out pretty good, that are mixed in with the can slaw. The only thing I can tell you to tell him is, use it. It tood me a good year to really start figuring out all of the messages that it was sending me when in multi tone. I'm still experimenting with the sensativaty settings, but getting better with that too. I don't think that he will be disappointed with the machine.

Congrats on getting that silver! Totally successfully hunt!
