Finding "Time Warp" Coins

As I've gone through several boxes of cents, I have occassionally found relatively old ones (1962, 1964, etc...) that are bright red and are in nearly perfect condition. How can this be? These can't have been in circulation that long without any wear. Does the Fed find old boxes of coins and then release them in the present day? Surely pennies like this don't come from someone spending their grandfather's coin collection.
Any ideas?

My theory has always been that these are coins from a mint set that someone recently raided for the silver.

Or they might of been in the back of the miscellanous drawer in Grandma kitchen. Or in her jewelry box. Maybe in the back of someone's dresser drawer, when they moved out of Mom and Dad's house. Or in the bottom of the old sofa. Countless places they can hide.

man possibilities as to how the old coins look so flawless. Sometimes when people pass on and their families find a coin collection people have no idea what it's worth, or who to even talk to about it. Sometimes they just take them into the bank. I know i've found rolls that had to be from someone's collection and they would up at the bank. Theft is always possible too.

same here...find alotta those too...i agree tho, just countless places they could hide...under a rug, under ur bed, furnace vents, board games, under vending machines, under large pieces of glass on tables, so there will be room to slide pictures under thee glass, kinda like a show case, the bottom of coin banks, under the washing machine, stuff like that.
this reminds me...when i was young, i remember going around to different plant in the mall, that they put up for decoration, and digging in them a bit, and finding all kinds of change everytime!

Here is my theory...

Every once in a while LJ lets loose a roll or two and sprinkles them down upon us.
