I went out for awhile this morning, was fairly chilly early on,but warmed nicely. Been battleing a stomach virus for a couple days, but just had to go dig awhile. I sure am glad I did now, because I wouldn't have found this neat conversation piece. It as a round ball with a brass wedding band around it. I also found some melted lead and 2 shot 3 ringers. Thanks for looking,Jonathon

Neat finds...wouldn't you love to know the story behind that ring.

Nice finds, just curious how you can specifically identify the ring as a wedding band.

Very interesting- i bet the two were in his pocket and were forced together and dropped

Maybe he got the oh so common "Dear John" letter and was going to shoot the round ball and ring during his next engagement!! ;-) That is one way to get rid of the ring?? Hm.. double meaning on "engagement".. I meant against the enemy but you never know!!!

Makes Sense. When I was stationed in California in the Marine Corps I got a "Dear John". I was pulling targets on the rifle range a few days later so I pulled her picture out of my wallet and stuck it to the "V" Ring of the target while I had it down in the butts. Then I ran the target back up for the shooter out on the firing line. It got hit evetually but it just nicked the corner.

So your "Dear John" theory sounds pretty plausible to me.

Too cool, would love to know the story behind that one.....
