This past Thursday, we did our usual pilgrimage to Brimfield Mass antique and flea market. Great weather and some great finds. Here's a list of the treasures I scored: the first seven items are from a dollar sale. This guy has several tables and everything is $1.00!! It starts at 1:00 and it's a mad rush of people to get in. It's really crazy and kind of a hoot to watch.
*Three antique pewter flatware pieces-$3.00
*One antique pewter mug-$1.00
*Two antique pewter salt shakers-$2.00
*Early glass flask with glass Pontil mark. -$1.00.
When I saw the flask, it was my third trip around to check out any last minute finds that some people didn't spot. I freaked when I found it as there were a lot of dealers there. I paid my $7 and immediately went to a dealer I know who deals with early American items and asked his opinion. He quickly stated that it was period 1850's and valued all day at $165.00 and definitely not a reproduction. Score!!
I also picked up a really nice Ct land deed circa 1783 for $45.00. My favorite though is a beautiful coin silver serving spoon made by Israel Bartlett circa 1769- 1775ish for my collection. Classic first style coffin handle. Paid $65 for this piece and glad to have it.
Also picked up a couple early brass coat hangers for a project for $6.00.
Pretty much a great day hunting and seeing some old friends.
