Fireman's Medallion age?

My buddy found this medallion today and gave it to me. I reckon he felt sorry for me because he found a Confederate Artillery button and my quest for any confederate button goes on. 35+ years and counting! Or maybe it's because I am a retired fireman.
Anyway the medallion is about 1 1/2" high and 1 1/2" wide. The wording on the front reads "Annual Fireman's Celebration".
The "Annual" is across the top. There is no date on it. What looks like a 9 above the R in Fireman is just decorative scrollwork.
There is nothing on the back.
There are the remains of a chain hooked to one of the eyelets.

I see "19" to the left an " ??" on the right.. :dontknow:

Reminds me of some of the old delegate badges from the early 1900's. I suppose it could be a muster badge of some sorts also. Neat find.

Thanks for all the replies. I wish I knew where this celebration was held. I did find a picture of the medal I found but it doesn't give much info on it.

The badge you linked (above) states it was made by Schwaab S&S Co., Milwaukee, WI.

http://www.schwaab.com/custom.aspx?id=12

Founded as the Northwestern Stamp Company in 1881; incorporated as Schwaab Stamp & Seal Company, 1888. At one time, they were the world’s largest manufacturer of watch fobs and even made license plates for Wisconsin. They made a lot of police/fire dept. badges/medals from the late 1880s-early 1900s.

A very similar style badge can be found here:

http://www.rtam.com/wf/catalog-14.pdf (Lot #94)

As they are still in business today, you might be able to contact them and find a date and/or what city's celebration your badge was made for.

Hate to bump a yr old thread, but I dug a silimar badge today, and while doing a google search for info, this post was in the results on google. Mine is exact design, but says NE Ind. Vol. Firemans Association and along the today it says June 30th 1910

I would like to see a picture of yours. Being dated and having a location on it should make it easier to identify.

Yours is in a lot better shape than mine. I tried researching yours but came up empty handed. Maybe someone else can help.
