Anyway, 8 boxes of halves = nada. Skunk now at 89 boxes. Worst ever!

4 boxes of dimes = 11 silvers

3 boxes of nickels = 5 war and 2 dateless buffs

The half skunk will be broken this week!

Unfortunately repack dumps are part of this crazy hobby, when you get your first one you will Hate it, I just take them straight to another branch and dump them. I don't seem to get nearly as much from the cubes as I do the flats, but I'll keep searching both to cover my bases. Thrip is around us too and he gets his fair share of repacks too. I just wish I could complain about it but don't want to run the risk of any problems so I say nothing anymore. I don't order any more the 4 boxes from any one branch though, I've seen people on here trying to keep an order of more going and get cut off, some branches don't mind I guess, but some of mine won't order anymore for me, and some say its not problem. Just be careful with the big orders, I think you can stay under the radar with 4 but many more may draw some attention. HH, Maverick.

I have slimmed down now to 28 boxes a week between 3 (different) banks (of 1 bank @ 2 branches) that these particular local branches don't mind ordering 2, 8, 8, and 10 boxes respectively per week. I guess I charmed them with my cute 'lil daughters. Hehe

I wish I could refuse them, I never do, I asked one of my regular branches about the repacks, when I would have 1 show up in an order of 4, she told me that's what they delivered and she really couldn't anything about it so I never said anything again about it, I don't get a big rash of them from my normal pick up banks but this one branch ( which is in a very dense area) that I order from every so often seems to get them often and I don't deal with them enough to say anything about it, they wouldn't take any rolled coin for wcash so I started ordering from them instead recently. Lets me search 2 carriers at once.

Those last 8 were the first time I did not take repacks. I always take them because I appreciate the effort of the tellers and you are right, they just order the coins, they have no control over what arrives. I told them that the last 8 repacks were short quite a bit. There was about a dozen nickels in the place of halves and one whole box with 19 per roll. They kept the boxes to unroll and count the coins. What is weird is that they are Brinks cube boxes coming from Garda.

When I first started I was ordering 3 and 4 per branch and mapping out these insane routes where I would line up 10 or more pickup banks in one day. I stopped doing that when I built better relationships with local banks. Bank tellers knew me by name 80 miles from where I live because I ordered there every week. Now, the finds don't justify that travel. I have 3 banks on autopilot for the last year and a half. 16 at one 8 at another and 12 at another.

The last few times I ordered from my flat box bank I've received repack dumps and I never know what I'm going to get any more from them, the very last order from them a couple weeks ago I got repack cube boxes sealed with clear tape, the rolls had been painstakingly rolled back down very tight, looked as if they had't been searched.

So you received repacked cube boxes from you flat box provider? I want to learn from your experience so what made you sure they were repackaged?

Most rewraps are the smashed flat kind - meaning one end is the machine crimp and the other end is opened and smashed flat with the coins back inside. No question if those are rewraps. Other more 'clever' hunters carefully reroll the open end so it looks like the roll was never opened. These are less common because it is hard to do. The garda boxes you hunt commonly have 19 or 21 coins per roll once or more per box, have crappy crimp/roll jobs, or have worn feeling paper. Recently what I have been getting from one bank are the 'clever' rerolls in brinks taped-up cubes from a Garda bank. Clearly crap.

You never know though, that's why you have to open them all. One time, I got a taped up garda box full of customer paper rolls. That box was my best ever for 90's...283.

Sounds like you are doing well there. keep hitting those boxes!

I have seen replacked boxes from guys who reused the MWR rolls, but never with the actual CWRs that is pretty lazy on the couriers part

I got flat boxes from Loomis on Thursday that were all MWR (not repacked dumps), but skunked on all. In a way it would have been nicer if some were repacks so I didn't have to search all of them! I did get a few S proofs though.

I got a Brinks box on Monday (square) that was all CWR, brown wrappers. My finds have been down about 50% per capita for three weeks in a row.

Thanks for sharing the picks. One of those boxes reminds me of one that I got when I was on vacation in Nov. when I was going to Miami. On the way down we visited family in a retirement comm. and one bank had 2 boxes of MWR - a full box with 3 searched rolls, and another box with $440 but already searched. As a novice (hadn't even ordered boxes yet in my home area) I bought them both. In the full box I ended up finding a 40%. Small reward after thinking I was wasting my time.

I'm sure though for an experienced hunter like you that is very frustrating, especially being in your home turf and expecting the boxes to be fresh. As the pro's say switch up your process somehow, and the AG will start flowing again. Have you gotten any good ideas yet?

I just thought of something. I don't want to sound demeaning to them, but do you think the [flat box] company might be trying to discourage you from dumping your cubes boxes there? I'm assuming you dump all boxes to one carrier.

I'm not usually paranoid but I had a strange thing happen last night when I was dumping at a WF in a small town. The manager wrote my info on a clip board of her's. It might of been just to send with the boxes to make sure my boxes weren't short, to later debit my account if necessary. Apparently no one had dumped boxes of halves there before and I made the mistake of bringing in too many (6). Your words came to mind when you had said before to keep numbers low to stay under the radar.

Yeah, I dropped the ball on that one. I'm only in my 2nd month now of ordering boxes. I have brought in more than that to local banks that know me with no problem. Lesson learned about being more discrete in a new bank.

Totally agree. 2 box max for me per bank branch per month. I bag the other halves (and dimes, nicks) and pay a fee that allows 100kk in loose coin dumps per month. A friend of mine who works at a bank got in on the fun last year. It was great because the orders became virtually unlimited. He dumped way too huge. Like 10 boxes or more per week per branch. WF closed his accounts and started a 1.5% fee for rolled coin dumps in this region. The fee still stands today. I admit, i did the same with bancAtlantic's coin cointers a few years back. After a year, there was a fee. Best thing to do is keep the dumps reasonable!

I was kinda nervous to get my pickup and dump system in place, but I found a regional bank that I basically have unlimited dumping privileges in. They offered double the interest rate that my CU offered, so I I brought a nice cashiers check in from our CU's savings account to open the account there and the treat me very well. They said that I can dump in bags or run loose coin through their coin counter from boxes, bags, or mason jars . Lol On Friday they told me that the Brinks guy said that he'd pick up the boxes of my rolled coin that I deposited earlier in Dec. that they still hadn't run through the counter, and they'll confirm with him if I can just start bringing in boxed rolled coin so they don't have to run it through the machine.

I just don't want to overload them since it's a smallish branch, but they say it's no problem any amount that I bring in. I still want to spread out my dumps. I'm still wary of the WF thing. I started out very very slowly, I would bring in my 2 boxes to my dump bank and ask if it was too much or what I could do differently to make it easier, the vaulter allways said that it was fine and to bring in wht I liked, I still only visited them once every 2 weeks and that was it for a while, then I slowly started visting 2 weeks in a row and then give them a break from me, still with only 2 boxes at a time. I could do more I guess, as I have a lot of stake in my dump bank, Mortgage, Ira, savings, checking account has been the same one for 25 years now, and other investments, so they make their money on me for sure, I just want to keep doing this for the next 10 years so I keep it as mild as I can with all my branches, including pick branches too. Right now the most I have ordered is 4 boxes a week from 3 branches and the others are 2 boxes a week, and the Loomis bank that I'm going to try 1 more time this week has 4 boxes coming in for me ( the repack branch). If you look at Tim Zims way of doing it, he also only gets 2-4 boxes delivered per branch to keep his system going. I'm just saying be careful, they all will say it's no problem at first, but keeping a huge order from 1 branch every week of a noncirculated coin will draw someones attention higher in the food chain at the bank, and you don't want to be known as "That guy" when you walk in every week to get 8-10 boxes, I would have said to work up to a higher amount slowly, start out ordering 2 boxes at a time from different branches and then ask if it's ok to order more, many branches will order more at first because they think it is a 1 time thing or your not going to do it every week, just remember slow and steady wins the race with this hobby and you'll get to do it for a long time. , HH, Maverick.

Maverick, you hit it again. Start with the 2 box order and go from there - good advice. Some banks / branches huff and puff over 2 boxes - if that's the case, move on to the next. Some banks have no problem with 2 and willingly do more. The atmosphere between different branches of the same bank in the same town can be totally different. Hope I am not calling anyone out here, but at the bank branch where I encounter repacks often, someone ordered 10k one time and they were all repacks. That guy was rude about the repacks and demanded to have the bank order him 25k to right the wrong. There was no 25k order.

I have a weekly 16 box order that came about when a asst. manager at a bank where I had a 6 box regular order saw me pickup 6 more at a different branch (where she was filling in for the day) in a different city. She asked me why I would travel to different branches to get more coins? I explained in detail how my hobby works and how I appreciated the 6 per week and did not want to wear out my welcome... she said 'if you want more coins just order them at my branch..we don't care at all'. That's how 16 per week came to be. In return, I asked her what helps her and her branch and have transferred loans / accts. to that bank to help them out.
