First and foremost.... I posted "teller info true" here about 2 weeks ago and want to thank each and every one of you for your encouragement & knowledge!!! :notworthy: I got my first 2 boxes of halves just the other day and WOW! You all know the story... open, dump, repeat... so I'll get on to the pics and finds! First up is Ben in the 4th roll! He just popped right out and said hello!
20121109_122750.jpg
:3coins: A few 40's to fallow and more later. 6 in total!
20121111_174003.jpg
:3coins: Next, This one has me so psyched too!!! A 1995 rotated half!!!! About 30 degrees!!! These 2 pics are flipped "head to toe". Where the heck is this one on the rarity scale???
20121111_173822.jpg 20121111_173849.jpg
:3coins: Then here comes the "S's"!
20121111_174108.jpg 20121111_174134.jpg 20121111_174205.jpg
:3coins: And this Commemorative S to boot!
20121111_174225.jpg
:icon_scratch:This curious little guy here... Was there something on the die? It does not appear to be "post mint"
20121111_174354.jpg IMG_20121111_174516.jpg
:3coins: Also found one 1974 DDO and several DDR's of varying degrees. Some in one or 2 letters and some near all the way around! The "pile" and some samples....

:occasion14: All and all, My Girlfriend and I were SO HAPPY with our finds!!!! Not a huge amount of silver but the others, I feel make up for it! We are new to this so ANY feedback is GREATLY APPRECIATED! Rarity, Values, Info , ect. Thanks for looking!!! :occasion14:

That rotated die is cool. Takes some work to find one of those. Congrats.

You're definitely not edge-checking! Congrats
LOL, No CC.... Maybe spending to much time at it but if I can turn clad into profit I'm in!!! There seem to be a lot of DDR's out there. Value? Who knows.... Much rather it's silver but neat to find!

The rotated half - check if it is a magician coin. My eyes' are seeing the seam on the reverse.
DD, I see what your seeing, How do I check it? Sounds like any solid coin.

Son of a gun and burst by bubble! It is a "magic coin" Like a copper Canadian on the inside! Did not know what they were till now. Arrrrr... Oh well.... Thanks Diver Down and GOOD EYE!!!!

I have yet to find a single DDO or DDR and I have searched 13,138 rolls in total, that is 262,760 coins. I dont date search though, not unless I feel like I should which is on anything I am even 1% unsure of.

Magician coins have a hollow thunk to them.

The "pile" is from one box. They are not easy to see with the naked eye or even a loop for that matter! I think the sample pics show them well. What I do need to figure out is if they are worth my time to search as it does take time! And a big YUP on the dates... An s or anything that stands out... other than that, <70 or <64!

The doubling you are seeing isn't "true" doubling. It is called machine doubling and there is no added value.

It's meant to resemble a British penny.

What is it that separates the 2? A DD from a machine doubling. The flaw is only on one side of the coin.

Doubling can be found on many business strike coins. It doesn't make them a doubled die. The process of coin production and the volume that is produced causes loose mechanical parts which results in the die shifting imparting a poor strike. In MD, there is no doubling on the die just in the strike. The tell-tale sign is a shelf-like appearance of the secondary image. In a doubled die, the secondary image will be raised like the primary image.

I was going to point out the MD, but I didn't want to crush your hopes and efforts in your latest hunt. I figured the magician coin was enough, and figured someone else would chime in with the MD.

Keep on hunting!

Magician coins are fun. Some are almost impossible to open. I opened a tough one once by putting it in a pint beer glass filled with water then shook it violently for a minute. Loosened it enough to open. I also broke a glass once with this method :occasion14:. The doubling is tough and takes practice identifying. If you are looking for errors I would recommend the Cherry Pickers Guide as a good reference book to pick up.

Thank you DD & MJ. Yeah, I was a little disappointed but it's also why I wanted feedback! Being new to this it helps so much to have the input of people such as you 2 and the many other "treasure educated" members here. Gold prospecting is my stronger point. The trick coin is kinda cool and only cost me .50 cents! And I did find silver!!!

Again, thank you for the education!
