Went back to the spot at the beach where I thought I had found a Cob Real, however it turned out to be a Charles 1625-49 Halfcrown(thanks Crusader)!!! That was real cool! Today I found myself a beautiful little Cob, my first!!! Wow when I pulled this one up I screamed like a girl!! I knew what it was when I saw the cross! :o Now I don't know who why or when! Any help and info on ID is Greatly Appreciated! Also pulled out some other goodies! Not sure of the two coppers got any ideas(one dated 1723)! Thanks in advance!!

What are the chances huh! But on a site that old anything can happen. Cobs do rock.

The 1723 is a George I Woods Hibernia. Funny the other is William IV, much later. (1830s)

You're on a roll SnT :headbang: Are your finds from the Boston area? I was born in Dorchester and would love to get back up there to dig.

How do you know I'm right? :laughing7:

The 1723 could also be a Rosa American, but much more likely a Hibernia.

To put this in context, we have only 1 hammered halfcrown (happens to be a Charles I), it took us 30+ combined years of searching to get it in the UK. :hello2:

Now you go & get another of my wish list items - a silver cob :notworthy:

So what do you want next time out?

A lot of them! Mass. has potential every where! I would love to hunt some of the older parks in Dot. maybe this summer! Recently picked up a E-track need to learn the machine! If your ever in town give me a buzz!!
