Beach & Shallow Water Hunting
Finally made it to my beach house for the week and took my Deus II for it's first beach 2 hour spin. Went pretty well, but struggled a little bit with the machine wanting to be a little chatty. Running the following settings this morning.

Base program: Beach Sens
Sensitivity: 96
Reactivity: 1
Salt Sens: 9
Bottle Cap reject: 3
Audio Resp: 5
Iron Vol: 1

Everything else was default for the base prog.

Love the machine, but need many more hours under my belt to get the kinks worked out.

Did pick up a silver toe ring!

Good to see that you got a hunt under the belt, that produced a silver. Well done 👏

I was out with mine today too. Seems I ran circles around the other folks there, at least that's what they said. I found out the bottle caps ALL rang up at 63 or 64. ALL of them. After awhile I just ignored that #. Got a mountain of change, three pieces of junk jewelry, two pounds plus of usable sinkers, and an ocean liner. And a seahorse.

Lower Salt Sens until it stabalizes, put another notch of Ractivity to 1.5. Some people are running 2. Won't lose depth

I'll give that a try this evening. Thanks for the input!

I used Deep HC, used the ground grab and made no adjustments. I did try the bottle cap setting at 3 and at 4, but reverted to the stock programming but that's just personal preference.

63-64 is also nickels and gold rings....

For my Deus I, I just use the graph to determine if a target is a bottle cap. Is that option available on the Deus II?

Those 63-64 bottlecaps have a funny "tone" to them, unlike gold. That has a different tone.

First, I can tell you that I have found nickels at 14" on a 90 sensitivity

Second, bump up reactivity to 1.5 or 2. This will quiet the machine down so that you will pass the coil near your scoop just to make sure that it is on.

Third, you should be able to back off salt sensitivity to 5 with no problem

Let me know what happens with these settings.

Thanks for the suggestions, plan to hit it again in the morning. I have to say I'm impressed with the depth that I am seeing out of the machine.

Thanks for the info Calabash! New to the XP line and was not sure how far I back off the salt sens without effecting performance. Will make changes and hit it again tomorrow. I appreciate all the video that you have put together. It's been a big help to me.

It will depend on your local salinity as to what salt setting you'll need. Turn it down until you get some falsing in the surf, then turn it up until it goes away, or, to wherever you can stand it.

Thanks for all the input. Made the Salt Sense and Reactivity changes mentioned above and the machine quieted down great. I think my next step will be to experiment with some different target and depths on my beach to learn the machine better. Thanks again for the input!

I use beach P program in square pitch tone. It’s a single tone for all targets NOT multi- tone.
Give it a try.
