First dug wheatie and CW bullet!

Havent been able to get out for several weeks so I went to a local school in a historic area.
I found a 1953 wheatie - my first so I was thrilled! THEN..... I was digging around the base of an old, huge tree - I was getting frustrated. I threw some dirt and rocks near my MD and it went off. Not a rock! A CW bullet - definitely not in the best of shape, but you can see the ring around it near the bottom. So this was a huge day for me. The school playground was getting a little crowded with kiddies so I MUST return at a later date. I had a good strong signal earlier at the base of another tree, but I couldnt get to it (I tend to be careful about digging big holes when there are people around). So.... knowing that there could be more things there - I will definitely go back to that tree.

I will try to post pics later.... someone at work is going to help me figure this picture posting thing out. Just couldn't wait to share!

Good deal. Wheat pennies are fun. There are some good dates. Civil War stuff would be great too. We don't get that much of that stuff up in Northern Ohio.

Congrats I remember my first CW bullet, I saw half of it sticking out of the ground. It was a 69 caliber 3 ringer. Since then I have found close to 2000.

Good job! Wheat pennies still get me excited....hey, they are better than clad pennies, thats for sure! the other good thing about finding wheat pennies is that usually its a sign that there are other older coins there (usually silver), waiting to be found! Best of luck!!!
