My buddy Mark and I did a little research and went out looking for some spots to detect today. We were just looking for an old school site, but we ended up getting an entire square mile to detect, so I think we did alright. We have lots of hunting left to do here, and hopefully we can find some similar finds there the next time we go!

The buckle was a real heart breaker! We were hunting an old foundation and I got a strong signal and uncovered the brush and saw just the eagle and the cannons showing. I called Mark over and when I picked it up, it said Culver on it. Bummer! Does anyone know much about these? I am assuming Culver Military Academy.

We then moved on to the school site and Mark had 3 old coins before I found my first. A no date Fatty Indian Head (my first ever). Then we went to another spot and right off the bat I dug a nice full liberty 1867 Indian Head Cent. Then it was quiet for a while with nobody digging much of anything.

Mark said he was getting sore and had to get home to see the wife. As I was walking beside him I got a booming hit just half an inch deep. I told him that I can't pass up a signal like this and that he would just have to wait! :)

Out popped a piece of silver! We got back to the car and ran some water over it and saw that it was an 1834 Bust Dime! My first ever bust coin!

I really need to thank Mark for the Bust Dime, as he found some bricks way back in the field while looking for arrowheads. Otherwise, we did not see this spot on the old maps.

Finds:
1919 Wheat
1867 Indian Head Cent
No Date Fatty Indian Head Cent (1st Fatty)
1834 Bust Dime (1st Bust)
Culver Buckle
Eagle Coat Button
