Ive been detecting for well over twenty years now and you might think in that time I would have found something related to masons or a masonic pin , medal, or whatever:; not so, until today!

I took a drive up the road from my house to take a look at a field I scouted briefly in the fall. The day after I took a quick walk through last fall the hunters came and the lease signs went up....wait til spring. The snow was gone today but the slick sinky muck wasn't! It was hard enough to walk let alone dig; and there was still frost in the ground down about six inches or so.

I only dug a few signals, lead, a few buttons, a worn token and a masonic watch fob/seal!
Sadly it came out in two pieces (struck by the plough I guess) but it is what it is and I think its a winner in my books!
I'll maybe head back when the conditions improve and it dries more, but the rain forcast for the next couple of days sure isn't going to help.
I put some dirt back in the cut glass/stone to show the details a bit better, it's hard to see since the glass is clear, but it's there!

now that is just a awesome piece there! love to finds a wax seal at some point...

I wouldn't have posted this pic ordinarily, but since it's masonic, here it is, a 1939 pocket knife, commemorating an 80th anniversary:

That's a neat thing too
Every so often a Masonic item shows up and gets posted, it's the first one I've ever found in a lot of years detecting, so they are out there to find

Anything from that particular group is awesome! I can't think of a group with a more fascinating and mysterious history. Being a builder I have a great appreciation for some of the architecture and hidden symbolism they incorporated into some amazing structures. Architecture today has lost some of those fine details that were incorporated in the past. I love old buildings!

Early/ old architecture is fascinating for sure, a lot of the old trades have been lost to time ; and so have their members. The former owners of our Masonic finds could have been the ones responsible for the construction of some of those fine old buildings and structures

Got a pretty good idea for next hunt... and could be good timing because we have to beat the cows!

Is IP afraid of some slow old cows? Tell me it's not so :-)

We've hunted on a few pastures over the years; some with dairy cows, they're relatively passive and otherwise harmless, another time we hunted on a beef herds pasture, these steers were left to eat and fatten in their field for an entire summer, so their only contact with humans was when the dinner bell rang and the farmer showed up with the hay, they saw us coming across the field swinging our detectors and thought there was a mid afternoon snack, we were quickly stampeded by a herd of rambunctious young steers looking for a free meal or whatever... we left swinging our shovels lol
It was kind of hair raising for a minute but we learned not to get between a hungry cow and his meal.

Nice Mason wax seal , Big Congrats ironhorse .

Careful , obstacles in the cow pasture ,

although you and the bro probably stepped in enough of it by now .

Obstacles, yes there have been a few!

Nothing worse than have a screaming signal under a fresh pile of obstacle! lol
