First Field hunt and my first Shield Nickle and a nice LC

Went back to a field I've hunted before but this year it's soybeans instead of corn like the last 2 years and it was well worth it. I got a solid nickle signal about a 1/2 an hour after getting there and after rinsing it off I could see the date 1870, my first shield nickle and also the newest coin that I've dug from that field. I dug a tomback button and a couple other buttons and then towards the end of the hunt I got a signal bouncing between a penny and a dime I figured it might be another button but when I flipped the dirt over I could see the spot where the coin was and the LC laying there an 1828 and not in to bad of shape coming from the field.

I'm not sure what it is, I should post it in what is it.

What is the item in the middle pic at the bottom? I haven't had the chance to hunt a soybean field yet, but I can imagine how much nicer than trying to avoid the corn stubble it has to be.
