A copper and cufflink kinda day.

Hi everyone, my buddy and I decided to use a vacation day today and try an add some finds to the collection.

A co worker has a brother that owns a farm near a 1700 fort site. We decided to try our luck and get as close to the fort site as we could. We parked in a small field and decided to walk back to the furthest point on the property and work our way back to the vehicle.

We didn't find much, a few dropped musket balls way back in and then nothing else. As we got about 50 yards from where we parked in the field I got a mid tone, ended up being a large tomback button, the my buddy hit a copper coin. Then it was on, we found a undocumented site, in total we pulled 17 brittish coins, many tombacks, I got 2 pairs of silver cufflinks, one with initials.

And 2 of the smallest shoe buckles I've ever found. What a great site! We believe this was a 1700s tradeing post possibility. I found a 1788 brittish copper halfpenny, these are known to be mostly counterfeit, munchin mills counterfeit possibly. And also 2 of the coins found at this site were virginia halfpennies, and I got a Connecticut state copper.

I can’t help but think the guy who lost those cuff links was pissed. He was like, “man, those cost me like five half pennys” and his wife was like “yeah, and you paid an extra farthing to have them engraved!”
