I just had to share this now. In the fields for the first time this season after a long cold winter...

Literally the first field target of the year! 1900 Barber Half! My second US half dollar which is great considering I am in Nova Scotia, Canada!

Hoping to find a lot more today to post but if not I'm calling this hunt a success!

Awesome find! Pay back for a hard winter! You rock!!!!

Not only is the weather different there so are the finds. A strange but good start!

Still frost in the ground below 6 inches but that's not really an issue...most targets in this area are pretty shallow.

I got your PM...crunching the numbers now...

So it's game on, or very very close for sure with next weeks temps.

Look like you started off the year nearly the way last one ended...with a nice half.

Now that's the way to do it buddy, great job on the big silver. I will be back after Easter and I really hope all the frost is out of the ground by then. Maybe there is one of those halfs sitting in a field around here just waiting for ol Davy Boy to come and rescue it.
Good luck while I'm gone and we will get together when I am back from FL.
Dave

Don't find those in the fields to often, usually find coppers.... :icon_scratch:

Cool digs !! 8-)

Keep @ it and HH !! :hello2:

Freaking awesome!! Man, wish all hunts started out like that!! Great find!

Congrats on a very nice find. Keep 'em comin'!

Yep that's a beauty bud. Pretty sad you're digging them up there and I can find old silver to save my life . Thinking maybe my sites are too old for much silver. It would be colonial if I found it. That wouldn't suck

That's one I surely wouldn't mind finding. I'm hoping tomorrows rain puts a dent in this snow, still a foot or two in the fields around here!

I would encourage you to be and think positive, I always plan on finding something old , great and silver every time I go detecting...but the plans don't always turn out the way you want, but sometimes they do! and that's what it's all about

Well said my friend.

Funny thing is that this half came from the same site where I dug a 1686 copper and a 1676 silver...so I guess they can turn up anywhere!

Great chunk of silver there buddy...your season is only beginning at this point!!
