I bought a Garrett Ace 300 Metal Detector. I have a piece of property that's been in my family for many years. My grandfather was a logger and had a team of horses he used for hauling firewood and lumber. This goes back to the late 1800's to early 1900's.
I couldn't wait to use my new detector, so I went to the property to see what I could find. I struck out at the spot I went to first, and decided to focus on the path, thinking maybe through the years people may have dropped things. All I found were horseshoe nails. I would toss them aside not thinking much about them, until I thought about my grandfather and his horses. Then I remembered I had a picture of him with his team. It was pretty neat thinking, these horseshoe nails most likely came from the horses in the photo below. My grandfather is furthest to the right driving the horses. I don't know the year, but it's somewhere around 1900.
Not much of a find, but pretty cool to me.
