First search with my Fisher F5 and Garrett Pro PinPointer yields 2 nails, a zipper pull and a 1972s penny. :laughing7:

All found in my front yard. The learning curve on the F5 isn't bad at all.

Good work ,you gotta start somewhere. Good things to come in the future.

I'm thinking the zipper pull is from the colonial era, who's with me?:hello2:

What? It wasn't invented until 1851? Oh never mind.

3/29/2013 update yard finds

3/29/2013
Today's finds in the yard, a clad dime, an old nut cracker, a few nuts and a bolts and other iron parts. My fisher F5 did hit a 70-71 on the dime and indicated a dime. Still learning how to use it. Had fun. I think tomorrow I will go search a farmers field that I know has been used since colonial times.

It is time Grasshopper...when you can i.d. a dime before you dig it, it is time to head to the fields.:laughing7: good luck. Its a reference from the old TV series Kung Fu...was on back in the 70s.

I have hit my field at least 40x's and I still find something every time! Today, I found a New Jersey copper shield coin and yesterday I found a musket ball. Your front yard is a great place to get to know your machine and there's always something waiting to be found.

Another dime, three pennies and the usual junk found in my grandparents front yard yesterday. Nothing special, so no pics this. time. The yard was my playground growing up, so I thought I might find old matchbox cars. I took my wife along and I think she is getting interested in MDing. I told her I am going to buy her a digger that she can use, so I can have mine back.

Hi Roy. I went out yesterday too. Went with a friend to an old falling down house site in Columbia County. Was excited to find my first ring. Too bad it was junk!:BangHead:

This reminds me a lot of my first finds in my yard! Congrats and HH!

Went out with the members of the Monroeville (PA) Area Metal Detectors Club today at a park called South Park. One of the oldest parks in the area. Was once a homestead and the owner was involved in the Whiskey Rebellion.
Found my fisrt Quarter and nickel, for a total of $0.47 and a bunch of other junk.

When it came to that nickel the Fisher F5 was sure of it, no bouncing around on the VDI.

Met a bunch of nice people.

If you were MacGyver you'd be able to make your wife a detector out of this...
