Hey guys, I've been a member here for a while but I haven't posted much since I don't get to the field very often. However, since I found my first ever gold piece I figured I'd share it. I found what is apparently a gold "grill" (a piece of jewelry that rappers, et al. like to wear on their teeth, lol) The guy at the jewelry store says it's 10k and the pawn store lady didn't want it since she "doesn't buy people's teeth." Haha, I guess I have a funny conversation piece!

Sorry for the ginormous pic! I tried to fix it but I suck at cameras and computers apparently!

That's an interesting find :o

Yeah, I thought so too, lol! I found it on Jacksonville Beach in FL. Some of the kids on the beach told me these things are made by making an impression of someone's teeth and then pouring the gold into the mold.

Hey, Gold is gold! Drop it in the scrap gold container and wash your hands. Ain't no telling where that's been!

Don't sell your gold dentures to a pawn shop or the dealers who sweep through town for a weekend with big ads saying they give good prices. If it's solid gold, you could get a lot more money by selling it directly to a refinery, some of whom pay above 90% of the gold content's current value. I haven't done this as haven't found any gold yet, but know someone who recently contacted two refineries mentioned elsewhere on this treasure.net website and was paid above 90% by one of the refineries. The transaction was done by certified or registered mail after weighing the object and taking good photos of it. Hopefully someone who reads your thread here can clue you in to where on this website the refineries are listed, as I don't know that. If one refinery rejects your object, try another. Of course, you may want to keep your new teeth forever as your first gold find. HH Andi

In as much as I am yet to find my first gold, I have to congratulate you and say I am very happy for you.......even if your resulting smile used to belong to someone else!

Good find, regardless!!

I'd weigh that sucker and ship it away for scrap and get melted down right away.... :icon_thumleft: :headbang:

Good piece of gold to find !! :hello2:

Keep @ it and HH !! ;D :D

Thanks for the advice! I had no idea how to go about selling random stuff like this so I'll definitely keep that in mind in the future. I'm going to hang onto this one though since it's my first gold and everyone I've shown has gotten a pretty good kick out of it.

did you try it on? ;D

Great Find. :icon_thumright:
If you change your mind about selling later I use Midwest Refiners they pay about the best rate 90% of spot or better. They have been a little slow on the payout lately and generally pay lowest spot of the week they receive it but its still better than anyone else except maybe that outfit in Texas, I cant remember their name, People say they pay well also maybe a little better than Midwest but I have never used them myself.

I've read that dental gold is 16K, so you may want to get it rechecked. But still a Great find. :hello2:

Hmm, I'll have to do that. Thanks for the info. I'm certainly not an expert on gold or anything but something tells me that even though it's made to be worn on teeth, I would be surprised this one is up to the standards required for actual dental gold. Could be though. I'll update if it turns out to be.

And Go Dawgs!

Absolutely! Although I would probably expand on your "Go Dawgs" and change it just a little to "GO steal that coaching staff out from under Boise State, DAWGS!!!"

Great..... Another one of the torch and pitchfork crowd........

Coach Richt is the current coach and I will be supporting HIM for the rest of the season no matter how it plays out. If he's gone at the end of the season, THEN I will start talking about who will be replacing him.

Until if and when he is removed from his job, I will be standing behind my coach and team and refraining from comments that do nothing but help to drag our team down.
