probably no one else out there has ever found one like this (I been in the hobby for over 40 yrs and I have not seen one yet)
and it is one for the books - worth only a few bucks ..but worth a 1000 words
found on 1st day of my trip in Va. about 1 1/2 feet down. When I first pulled it from my scoop I thought
"why would someone put a piece of brass on a sinker ?- it would cut or wear thru their line"
. I did not examine it - just dropped it in my pouch and continued hunting, but kept thinking bout it ...could that have been a band ?
Shrugged it off. When I got back to my room ...I dug thru all the other sinkers looking for it (I found 19)
My GF asked if I got anything good and I told her I had a silver ring but "I need to look at this sinker I found...I think it might have a ring attatched to it"
She said, "What?" in confusion. I pulled it from my pouch and noticed it had a pattern on it and a small diamond chip - WOW!
but was it gold ? - My eye sight is shot and my loupe was buried for the moment in one of my bags. My Gal grabbed the sinker and went under a lamp
and said, "Yup..I see 10K!"
If a larger ring or big real stone...I'd probably have to remove it...its small and thin and is cooler as is...not the ring I was looking for - for my first of the
year - but it goes in my book as one of the coolest.

A very cool find! But I have to mention it was only 285 words. :laughing7:

That's so unique if that could tell a story

give it time - I just posted it :tongue3:

My post disappeared. I don't think I accidentally deleted it. And you are right. You will type much more than 1000 words before this thread dies down. 8-)

Excellent job, Gold is gold does not matter if it is just 10K someone wanted that ring to stay lost for good excellent job

divorce - bad break up or someone passed away and family member did it because he was a fisherman :dontknow:

Something weird is going on. I can't see my own posts. They are here and then gone and then back again. I will have to logout and back in. Hopefully I can remember my password. :laughing7:

Those were my first thoughts Don but still a cool and interesting find.

It appears to have be cut....... people do things when a spouse dies that are emotional. This may have been one of those cases. Great find........ and another great story. Thats why i like to hunt with others....... you get some really amazing stories especially from those in the hobby for years.

My guess as well, sir, although I tend to think the former is more likely. Maybe the ex used it to put a curse on him/her as it was thrown into the sea. I think you have the story line for a movie there. Great find.
