Its been bone dry in central NY, but a good field was plowed so I figured I would take a walk and see if I could cherry pick anything on top and It turned out pretty well. Ended up with half a celt that has a greenish color to it, almost looks like marble and a few points.

The way the hard stone changes makes me wonder if that was a vein, of what looks like k-feldspar, that created a weak point where it broke… but I have almost 0 hard stone experience being in a sedimentary basin myself so I could be way off the mark

Lots of makers of hardstone tools took advantage of seems and inclusions in celts and axes, even when it probably made for a slightly weaker tool. I'm sure that celt was strikingly beautiful when made.

A rare example of form over function.
