First Half Dollar CRH - once in a lifetime?!!

I just started in this hobby 'officially' last week when I placed an order for $1,000 dollars in halfs with my local bank. Prior to placing that order, my CRH was a roll here or there when I went to the bank and had some spare change.

So...I went to the bank and was surprised when they brought out a large plastic bag filled with halfs. I thought that they would be rolled coins - hence, CRH. I actually prefered the bag though!

I took the coins home and called my brother whom has gone through $4,000 dollars in halfs in the last two weeks - with a total take of 1 Franklin and 1 90% Kennedy. I knew that I was going to have him beat as soon as I opened the bag and dumped about a quarter of it onto my kitchen table for sorting. In the pile spilling from the bag I had seen at least two coins that I knew had to be silver! Within minutes I had pulled 5 40% Kennedy's from the pile!! It took me just over an hour to sort all of the coins by date. I called my brother several times during the sorting process to share (gloat) my growing amazement at my luck!

My total take:
1966: 3
1967: 14
1968: 15
1969: 5

37 40% HALF DOLLARS!!

We discussed how lucky I was - and I promptly placed my next order! I'm not expecting similar results, but I certainly won't complain if I get them! Good hunting to you all!

To be honest it sounds like the bank may be keeping its bags from its coin machines meaning you might even be really lucky and get some few year old bags.
