We are experiencing a small window of above freezing weather in W PA this week, back down to single digits on Saturday.

Made it out to my Nova site and did some midnight barrel rolling. My headlamp died after 30 minutes, but it was a clear sky and the stars and my pin pointer had to do for the next hour. Found my first 2 coins of 2018, 2 wheats, frozen clod pic. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1515649043.985309.webp

Then a bouncy signal, but decent enough to dig, first came a shotgun end then nice roundness popped out.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1515649172.004691.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1515649188.005904.webp

Here are the coins.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1515649250.050969.webp

Here is the toasty KGII next to the date readable one from last month. Small details visible at bottom of neck on bust side and shoulders and neck on lady side.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1515649309.590542.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1515649325.744679.webp

This is the 3rd KG coin from this site. Gives me hope that more goodies are still in the uncleared areas.

Good luck out there!

Ha ha, you've got it bad, hunting in the dark while its warm out. I know the feeling.

Well done on the copper recovery in the dark.
It's going to be in the upper 40's here for a few days and rain-then a foot of snow and winter again.

Thx Treblehunter & Pepperj! Get out there while you can...

Very cold weather midnight hunts when a headlamp fails just must be painful, but you did find your nice KG coin.

Man you are hardcore! I must say I am amazed at the coppers you have pulled from that site. Beautiful out there today, but unfortunately it's gonna turn bad for the weekend :BangHead:

congrats on the hunt!

Now that's motivation, I can tell your addiction is stronger than mine haha. As of yesterday the ground is too hard for me to go out, if it wasnt frozen I would've took a half day off work to swing today. You definitely started the new year with some good luck.

A nice copper to show for your efforts. Unless I hit a sandy beach, you probably won’t hear much from me until March. Good luck and be careful not to damage anything in that frozen ground.

Thx! It was 62 this afternoon, hit a farm at lunch and was sweating after 45 min, but winter storm warning ahead for this weekend, short oasis in this cold spell.

Thx Scrappy! I was stoked to see just enough details to ID the copper. I really hate it when they are totally smooth, but part of the game.

Yeah, this site is nothing to look at, no cellar hole, no stacked stones, no obvious flat area, just a dot on the old map. But every time I clear more ground around the dot it pays!

Nice job on the night hunt! :occasion14:

Congrats on that colonial copper! Nice spot you got there. Cracked my shovel blade today in the half frozen soil...

When the going gets rough, the tough get going.
Nice hunt
