Hello Everyone,

Finally got out for the first time this year . My bro and I hit a couple of sites in central VA. The first site gave up a couple fired roundballs, 2 flat buttons(both with thread in the shank) and a brass buckle(top row in pic).
The second site gave up 4 more roundballs( 2 are dropped) a chewed 3 ringer and best of all a Confederate brass artillery fuse plug which still has a ring of paper in the fuse hole.
P.S. My brother found a rare CS Kerr bullet(sorry no pic)

Man....what an outstanding find. Love that fuse! I wish I could find one of those.

I am glad you posted that pic of the fuse, I wouldn't know what one of those was if I found it.

Great day of hunting. The piece in the top picture to the left looks like half of a "shoulder strap" or "shoulder bar" which showed the officers rank.

Hi D.C. Nice finds> Your fuse is a "fuse plug or holder" This is for a "Read"-elongated shell The hole in the center is for the fuse. This type used 2 different types of fuses, time and percussion. Used by the CSA.

NICE dig.

"may there always be a road"

Beautiful find's on the fuse....The Kerr is an awesome find, what are the measurement's?

some day I too will find some civil war stuffs... boy I would loveeeeeee that.

Took a friend of mine on his first relic hunt years ago. He found a fuse in an old dirt road and threw it at me and said, "just my luck. the end of a hose pipe." I didn't have the heart to keep it. It was his first relic and great one.

Nice finds!!!!!
