I have been working a new area since the fifth. It is open field where a house used to be. Been Hunting 30 minutes to a couple hours at the time. Been pulling a couple or three wheats each time plus other assorted items to include a couple of WWII buttons and buckles and such. My first day there found a wheat and then got a hit that was good. Raked away some leaves with my foot and on top of the ground was a 1917 Merc. only silver there so far. I hunted for about an hour and a half this morn. Found assorted trash and relics and then found my first Indian Head cent-1903. She had a rough time in the past though. I also found a button I need help on the ID. I have cleaned some and have been able to make out a little of it. There is an 'N' followed by an '&' and I can't make out what the other letter might be. If anyone has any ideas let me know. Happy Hunting all.

Way to go Chief on the finds!! Sending a big ATA-BOY your way for the first indian!! The first one I found had been shot right in the middle. It was a 1909 but because of the stretched out back from the bullet wound I couldnt tell if it was an S or not. Well Done and good luck in the future. 8) 8)

That sounds like a great site, Chief! Congrats on that first! Are there any readable markings on the back of the button?

Nana :)

Thanks Nana. That is the exact button. Good eye there.

Congrats on the IH. Don't be discouraged by the condition -- they get pretty chewed up everywhere. The NY soil is brutal on coppas...

Cheers and HH,
Bman

Congratulations on a first. Bitter sweet due to condition but mostly sweet. ;D

Congrats on your first Indian Head. I'm sure it took some effort to bend that coin, but its a keeper.
