I've been metal detecting on and off for a few years...and I finally found my first Indian cent today! It's from 1904. I also found a token today...was wondering if anyone knew anything about it. I love history.

Front: "Alabama State Department of Revenue"
Back: "Sales Tax Token" with two "1"s on each side.

If ya have any info, I'd appreciate it! More pics to come in a few days most likely!

I've found a couple of these on a site I have detected in Elmore County. I found mine at an old house site (10' x 15' building) w/old fireplace.

Thanks for the info PBK :) I'm heading out to detect some more in an hour! I'm using Google Earth to find all of the historical churches on back roads. I'll post my finds tonight.

Congrats on two first.

It's a good fealing after waiting for a good while.

You found a tax token. You probably already know that. It's older but I don't know the exact year.

Pretty neat! Love those indians. Keep 'em coming!
Oh, and thanks, PBK- I learned what a tax token is! We didn't have those up here in PA.
