First Indian + Token!

I've been metal detecting on and off for a few years...and I finally found my first Indian cent today! It's from 1904. I also found a token today...was wondering if anyone knew anything about it. I love history.

Front: "Alabama State Department of Revenue"
Back: "Sales Tax Token" with two "1"s on each side.

If ya have any info, I'd appreciate it! More pics to come in a few days most likely!

I've found a couple of these on a site I have detected in Elmore County. I found mine at an old house site (10' x 15' building) w/old fireplace.

The Alabama token dates c. 1939-41. An earlier version with the words "Luxury Tax" was used in 1937-38. The denomination is 1 mill, or 1/10¢. Here's a link to more info about state sales tax tokens:

Thanks for the info PBK I'm heading out to detect some more in an hour! I'm using Google Earth to find all of the historical churches on back roads. I'll post my finds tonight.

You found a tax token. You probably already know that. It's older but I don't know the exact year.
