We have had a long winter . I am just able to start field hunting and the season is already starting to end South of the Mason Dixon line . This is field hunting in Maine , If you want to call it a field . Tall grass that does not get mowed anymore . The snow was good for something at least . It laid all that grass down flat to the ground . It also helps insulate the ground along with the long grass . About the only thing available to me besides the salt . The actual crop fields are still frozen soild . This site is a 1790's farmhouse that also had docks for ocean access . I have hunted this site many times , Though have never really been able to hit this tall grass area as well as I could today . Nothing remarkble found but I got a land hunt in and we have heavy rains coming tonight ! Should open up some more territory ! Thanks for looking ! MaineRelic

Good to see you out there, Maine! I won't be far behind you, I hope. I'm just north of you.

That's a nice old buckle there. Great hunt, man.

That's a good start! Nice to get the shovel into the dirt!

Some nice finds there! I love that old key you found. I'm greatly anticipating the day I find something similar (so far for me it's just new keys).

Sounds like a fun place to dig

Like the copper/brass oar lock

Glad to see you start having fun MaineRelic, nice assortment of relics for sure, are those round balls in that pic? Just started here in the flatland last week, though still had freeze down deep here like you but these two days o rain will have changed that problem from freeze to mud. But hey, that's New England weather for ya, have a good season, all 3 weeks!
