Back to the 1860 farm today with the Manticore and M8 coil. This permission hasn't been very productive except for trash since I started working it back in December. It's been a nice place to go to hunt, and my wife enjoys walking the fields. Most of my visits there have been frustrating, finding only trash. But I keep going back and am sometimes rewarded for my efforts.
I never worked the farm road, so I thought it was a good place to swing the M8. Wasn't hearing much non-ferrous, I'd gone about 50 feet and hit a banging 72-74 signal. Repeatable 360 degrees. I wasn't too excited since I've had 74 signals produce soda and beer cans. Dug the hole and BAM, something awesome fell out of the plug into the hole.
Farm Road
I couldn't believe my eyes. I mean I've dreamed of this very moment, finding a silver coin. It was so shiny. For a few minutes I just sat and stared at the coin, I was too blown away to even pick it up.
I couldn't believe how clean it looked.
Holy crap, 1918 "D", didn't even have to spray it to see the date or mint. Here it is below, washed in all its glory.
I walked the rest of the 1/2-mile farm road and swung where I could, grass and weeds are pretty high. Didn't get much more than iron hits the rest of the way. Spent three hours total, and basically only walked away with the Merc. But I didn't care. I had already found my treasure.
