Is the 5900 a good detector?

Is the 5900 a good detector?
yes
just older and heavy....must be ground balanced right ...but it will find the good stuff...if you take it to where the good stuff might be.

Welcome to Tnet. Good luck and happy hunting.

Nothing at all wrong with the 5900. Welcome to the forum!

Take your time and learn the unit and you'll have a ball

Good depth on one a friend had, I actually witnessed him dig an Indian Head penny at around 18" deep with a 5900, soil conditions and his ground balance must have been perfect. My Teknetics 9000B I was hunting with then wouldn't even register a signal in all metal, and he was using his in discriminate mode. Great machine and nice price too, it should pay for itself quickly.

Congrats and welcome to the forum...
