SJ Ben and I got permission to detect an old field this morning. The first hour was frustrating with nothing in my pouch but trash, but then I began to dig some goodies. The Flying Eagle is undoubtably the best find of the day, but I also dug some other goodies including part of a two piece CW era belt buckle. Unfortunately there is no eagle on it! It felt great to be out again!

Flying Eagle seems to be in good shape. Nice finds.

Big Congrats... Those F/E are some of the coolest looking coins out there, and you sure don't see a lot being found. On my want list that is for sure.

quite a bit of detail left on that flyer. it's a great find!

Sweet FE, I have dug 4 of them and all 4 of them are 1857

Wow, that's a nice bird you got. CONGRATS

Hey Neil. That FE cent sure beats the crap out of the one I found yesterday. Wish New England soil was better on non-silver coins.

Most of mine are pretty bad. The trick is not to attempt to clean them!

Come to think of it I think this is my first 1858 and it's my 4th as well.

Good 1 Neil. I have two '57's and a '58. Only one is in decent shape. Congrats..........Hogge

Haha a find like that would certainly make the day. Feel like detecting again I hope :)

Very nice find, I've found 5 or 6 over the years, they were all toast because I hunt the beach, Hopeing to get a good one someday.:icon_thumleft:

Those are hard to find Neil. And yours is in nice shape with a crisp date. Nice going!!

Neil: A fantastic spot. Can't wait to go back!

Nice detail on that Fleagle

Great find, Neil. My hunting partner, granthansen, found one on a hunt in Mt. Holly recently. Still on my bucket list.

Congrats! Great finds. Coincidentally, I just bought a case for my '57 today. A very exciting find for sure. Although not a rare coin, I think a rare find!

Nice flying eagle!

Nice FE Whats the date on that lincoln? Buff? I'm half-blind.

Both other coins are dated 1917.

With only 750 of the 1856 coins placed into circulation, it is doubtful that any will ever be posted here.
