Couple weeks ago I posted this. http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/t...ling-first-silver-s-maybe-one-more-first.html

This Sunday I had the great pleasure of handing the ring back to the mother of the son that lost it a little over 2 years ago.

If you look in the background you can see where the water should be. Part I still don't understand is son said he saw the ring slip off and drop into the silty bottom. They searched with mask and snorkel. Could not find the ring.

Fast forward a year and the water had dropped considerably due to the drought out here. They hired a detectorist to search. He looked for more than eight hours. No Ring. Fast forward another year. The whole family dug, scooped, and sifted. Still no ring. Now this year I found it way above the waterline. In fact, the ring was found less than ten feet from where the mother and I are standing!

The community near the beach has an online bulletin board. I called the lady that runs the board and gave her a very general description of the ring and where it was found the day after I found it. In less than four hours I had a very happy wife on the phone. She gave me a very precise description.

Mother and different son were in the area this weekend to shut down their cabin for the winter so they made the pickup.

Was good to pass the ring back. First Ring, First Return.jpg

Great job on the ring return! That's crazy how much effort was put into finding that ring with no luck then you come along and pluck it out of the ground.
Should be an honorable mention. =)

Awesome return, I agree "HONORABLE MENTION" :notworthy:

nice job man!! It can be very hard to find owners. I found a class ring from Nashoba Tech with the guys name--but I still can't get in contact with him--

:occasion14:...well done...consider joining theringfinders.com the joy of a return is priceless !!!

Nice write-up and excellent job on the return! Definitely an Honorable Mention!

well done. Mystery on how the ring migrated, though...:dontknow:

Great karma for that return. I found and returned one last year and a couple weeks later found 2 1600s coins. Great job

Honorable Mention!

Did you get a reward?

Mom tried to give me an envelope which I presume contained some cash. I declined and said a picture of the return would be reward enough. The value in the ring is sentimental.

I did get permission to hunt the property upon which the family cabin sits!

Thanks. My theory is that the community responsible for maintaining the beach area took advantage of the drought by pushing some of the beach sand back up onto the beach! The distance between where the ring was lost and where I found it is easily 100 yards. I suspect that if anyone had found it they would have either kept it or located the owner. We'll never know for sure, but those are my thoughts about it.

Just signed up! Are you a member? If so, what name/area? I'd like some guidance in creating my bio/blog.
