Hi all:
Colleen and I hooked up Thur. for a few hours at the secret site. The evening got off to a promising start when her very first signal was a wheat penny. Soon after I dug a '57 Jefferson nickel. Colleen was happy to dig her first nickel, an early Jefferson. I followed with a '54 silver Roosevelt. Near the end of the evening I headed over to some fresh ground and managed a wheatie in some aluminum scraps. Soon after I got a good signal and was thrilled to dig my first Franklin half, a 1953.
Colleen ended up with her nickel, two wheats and a clad penny and did very well for a rookie. (It's a trashy place.) It was a fun night and there's still more ground to pound.
Later at home my 9YO son said, "Mom, I'm proud of you!" which I thought was cute.
