First silver of 2016 and it's from a Coinstar!

Like many of you, I am always sure to check the reject bin whenever I walk by one. I entered the store and checked and found 41 cents in clad. Alright! Free money!

As I was shopping I noticed someone new was using the machine. Gauging which check-out line would time me perfectly to that person finishing at the coinstar, I proceeded to check-out, one eye on the machine. Finished up and checked again and, YAY!, more free money.

Coinstar gave me 22 more cents including the 1960 Rosie. First silver from a coinstar and the first of the year for me. I don't care HOW I get on the silver board, just that I do.

It's almost like Mother Earth was throwing me a bone and saying "sorry it's been pouring rain and high winds during the warm winter."

Thanks for looking. Happy hunting all and enjoy the day!

I wish they had a "flipping the bird" smiley. I have yet to find any $ in a coin star machine. But seriously, you scored, that's all that matters.

I have yet to find anything in a Coinstar machine either. But, every couple years they have to hate me when all that dug dirty money gets dropped off with them. Somebody somewhere must know that a person with a metal detector just cashed out the crap coins he has dug.

I've found mostly European and Canadian coins. When I do find United States coins, it is usually one or two at a time. Never this many at once. My heart almost jumped out of my chest when I found a tiny "gold" coin in one a few weeks ago. Turned out to be a 2 Euro coin (I think?).

Interestingly enough, the majority of pennies I find in the reject bins look identical to the corroded ones I find when digging at the beach, so I suspect there is another detectorist cashing out. I personally just roll them all up at the end of the year and cash out at the bank. Able to purchase a new Pro-Pointer II from Bart's with my clad total last year!

I suspect I have about a week left of detecting. My bank won't order boxes of coins so I won't be trying out CRHing, so finding anything in a coinstar is a pleasant surprise.

I have only had success in this one particular store. I've never found coins in the five or six other coin star machines I've come across.
