A standing liberty quarter. A first for me. Found along the edge of a field near some old foundations. Only 2 inches or so down. The farmers plow helped me out no doubt. I assume the date is somewhere between 1917 and 1925 since it is rubbed completely off.

You are more or less assuming correctly on the date. Later dated SLQ's had a lower recessed date so that it wouldn't wear as easily. Earlier dates were at the high point of the planchet. Nice find!

Heck yeah. I'll be back. Can't wait 'till fall for the weeds and brush to die back. There's two more foundations further back that are shown on a 1912 topo map. This foundation was not shown on the map so it must have been built after 1912. Looks to be a good place to hunt. The land is owned by the watershed too.
