Confirmed: First Texas aquires Fisher

Not a rumer, it appears that it never was a rumer.
This came up about a month ago, it seems they were right on track, but knew ahead of time.

See this link.

thank Ed from BH for the link.

the oldest detector company
combined with
the biggest detector company

= endless possibilities

bh is already really good and provides the best prices

now can we expect a pi detector
if so how soon

will bh make underwater detectors

seen this else where too, as far as i know it happened.

I won't put down any Brand,

But I can only Guess what this could mean.

IF it means a Meeting of Minds, They could come up with an Excellent Detector, But under Who's name ?

If it means First Texas' Deciding what goes in All , it could mean Less Competition, which could be bad.

It could also mean cheaper Cases on Fishers. & less Warranty.

I'd like to know their Intentions.

FISHER, WHITES, GARRETT & MINELAB have been Known to Put the Customer First.
Anyone know if First Texas, has been Known to do the same,
even out of Warranty ?

My Expierence has always been hearing people Upgrade From a Bounty Hunter or Replace it with another.

The only people who complain about Bh are the people that don't use them. If Fisher was so great then why were they for sale? Let me tell you what BH warranty is like. Machines are fixed after warranties expire. And not just fixed but whole circuit boards and coils replaced with new ones. As far as Fishers coming out with cheaper case or bad warranty don't count on it. Maybe the new Fishers will stop indicating a nail as coin. That would be a step forward.

Thats not correct. I have a Whites, a Garret, and two BHs in my closet. I have no complaints about the BHs except the crappy arm cuff on one of them. Other than that, they work as well as I'd expect, and have been excellent coin shooters for school yards, and make great back-ups for the better ones.

As someone who has only been detecting for a few years on weekends and such and only used BH's,I can't offer too much input as to any other brands only to say that my first unit paid for itself in less than a year and now I own another BH unit that is much better than the 1st. one.The only complaint I have about BH is the overall construction of the units themselves.IE-Structural design. The cuffs are uncomfortable, the extension arms are loosely fit at the connection point and the component housing needs to be made of a thicker gauge plastic, thats it.I think alot of the stigma of BH's being no good is false. You can own a Ferrari but if you can't drive worth a crap, the guy in the Honda will smoke you.

Looks like Jeff is still trying to push those T2's. Dont do it you can get alot better detector for that kind of money. I found out the hard way. Ask Jeff about them he will tell you how they will ind a coin at 15" and be glad to sell you one.

Hi noob here

Stopped at Fisher lab in Los Banos last week got a new coil. Anyway I was talking to a lady that has been there for many years she said only two people from here are going to Texas. This next Friday is the last day the plant will be open, just a cleanup crew left after that.

Sounds like a great place to go dumpster diving in a week or so! All jokes aside!

I've recieved great service from BH / I have 2 and other detectors/no problem in CS!

I own a BH (which got me 2nd place in a coin shoot), a GB2 and a T2 (which is great on coins/relics. I live a few blocks from First TX and have talked to the engineer who designed the T2, he is the original engineer who designed the GB2. I have found all their products to be good, people just have to realize that each product is designed for different uses and price levels to meet the needs of the customers.

I don't think there is anything to worry about.

When HP bought Compaq computers everyone thought Compaq Computers would get better. Thats not happened, although I'm sure HP is working on it. HP is still HP and Compaq is still Compaq technology.

The same, I believe is true of First TX, Garrett, and Bounty Hunter. My sincere hope is that they will ALL work together to make better machines. Hopefully they will make better LOOKING machines as well.

I'm sorry, but in my humble opinion, Bounty Hunter looks like cheap junk ;Just a bunch of tin thrown together with a bad paint job. Bounty Hunter may well have some good metal detectors, ( [people find treasure with them daily ) but in my book, apperance speaks volumes!

So does good customer service.

Hahahaha. Yes. Customer service too. So far I have had no problems.(:-)

Many years before most of you all were old enough to detect, I used nothing but bounty hunter det's and also I had a BH red baron detecter, it was many years ahead of it's time. It had depth the hi priced new det's can't even get to! Bill

fisher took 3 days to call me back on a probelm with a coinstrike that was less than 15 days old. unless its a really good deal, i wont be spending any more of my cash on fisher products. dropping the lifetime warranty was a sure sign that they dont beleive in their product like they used to.

when did you call fisher??Was it after they were bought??? i never had trouble with them and i hunted with fisher detectors for 3yrs and still have a CZ6a.
Also i understand that people who have the fisher 75's have been having trouble with them and have been having trouble with service..and i believe these machines were out after fisher was bought..
I guess we will have to wait and see....

I bought the machine May 28 of this year so it's after the First Texas buy. Oh to go back to the good old days when there was service now it's get the sale and so long sucker.

Yea,back went people took pride in what they built and were willing to stand behind it....
And luckily most detector makers stand behind what they build.....
