first time buying $500 (BAG?) of half dollars - need opinons please (UPDATED)

I ordered and now received my first $500 of half dollars. They came in a clear sealed bag marked from Brinks. Is that normal? I was expecting a box of half dollars. I fear they have been run through a coin star type machine and the silver has been dropped out of them? Any opinion or has anyone else received $500 like this before? [/img

What type of bank was it at?

I was only able to nab a bag once. It wasn't ordered I just walked in and asked about halves. The bag had more silvers than any box has ever given me. I assume it was luck but there are definitely coin machines that don't cull 40% halves. I don't know if any machine can. Their weight is only like 2 grams more, or somewhere around there.

I just ordered them from my regular bank (Wells Fargo). The wife and I are planning opening tonight so i guess we will see. My question was more toward should I have asked for something different or is this just what this particular bank does. I know my wife also ordered $500 from a different branch and it sounded like they were getting her a box. I'll let you know how it goes.

They could have come directly off a coin counter (good), directly from customer-rolls (good), or some crh'ers direct-bagged dump (not good).

So now after reading your post the light bulb went off. I looked closer at the bag and hand writen on it and under the brinks sticker is Synovus Bank and the location and branch. Awww crap! Oh well, we will of course open anyway and see how this goes. I have another "box" supposedly coming from another branch that my wife ordered next week.

I get these bags every week, but the $1000 version. Do they have silver? Read on:

In my neck of the woods ,( New Mexico )- bags are harder to get than boxes , if you can get them ,
they tend to be $1000. bags - not $500. The first one I got had about 50 keepers in it !!!
I've had a couple of lousy bags as well ... (one 40%-er in the entire bag for example )
From my experience this CRH thing is really random ! Argentium.

If I order halves from Sun Trust they always come in a 500 dollar clear bag like that and when I order from Regions, I get 500 dollar boxes. I'm in Fl and both boxes and bags are usually slim pickings. In the last 2 clear bags I got I found one Franklin in each. I've been getting boxes lately but was thinking about trying a clear bag again. I have seen people picking up the clear bags from the BOA where I dump.
